Kolson: Month 10!

Eating and Sleeping habits:
Right now Kolson has six teeth cutting through so his sleep (or lack of) this month has been absolutely terrible. He will fall asleep anywhere between 7:30 and 9 in his crib. He wakes up between midnight and 12:30 and has to be walked around (which usually takes an hour and a half) until he falls back asleep. He will wake up again between 2 and 3 in the morning and has to be walked around again until he falls back asleep. Then he will wake up anytime between 5 and 7 to start the day. Throughout the day he will have between three and four 8oz bottles, 3 4oz containers of baby food, and tons of snacks. Depending on our activities for the day he will take between a half an hour to a two hour nap around 12. We traded in Patrick's Honda Civic and my Dodge Journey for a Toyota Sienna this month. I thought it would completely throw off Kolson's mornings, but he goes right back to sleep when we get home.

Measurements:
Kolson won't have another check-up until his 1 year appointment, but if I had to guess I would say 25 pounds or over and 32 inches. He doesn't seem to have gained much weight because he is a lot more active now.

Diapering and Clothing:
Kolson is still wearing size 4 Pampers Cruisers and in 12-18 month clothing. I don't think he will be sizing up anytime soon either.

New Milestones:
Kolson had to major milestones this month! First he took his first two steps while we were at giggle box!!! Since then, he has taken one or two steps a couple times, but he is very determined to walk. The second milestone is that he stood up completely on his own. He was crawling around the playroom, when all of a sudden he tucked his feet under and pushed himself up!! He fell over immediately, but it's still progress! He clapped when he fell and was obviously very proud of himself. I've been trying to get him to do it on camera, but of course that hasn't happened haha.

Firsts:
We've done a lot this month between playdates with new friends, birthday parties, music festivals, water festivals, and birthday party shopping/planning. Kolson goes to play group twice a week and once a week he has a play date with his best friend Brielle. They get along so well and Kolson is always so well behaved when he is with her.

Loves: Walking! Everything has to be walking. Whether it's pushing the highchair or one of his toys or holding my hands, it's the only mode of transportation that Kolson likes to do. He stills crawls around or scoots on his elephant toy, but he would much rather walk around than anything else. Kolson is obsessed with food pouches, rice cakes and Kix cereal.

Doesn't Love: There isn't much that Kolson doesn't love. His sleeping is getting better. He still gets fussy, but not nearly as bad. The main thing I would say is teething. Poor kid is getting his butt kicked with all of the teeth he has coming through right now.

What I want to remember:
Gosh, there's so much I want to remember. The duck face he makes when he is super focused. His evil smile. The way he lifts his legs when he is in his car seat. How happy he gets when we Skype with grandma and grandpa. How much he loves peek-a-boo. Everything! I can't believe he is almost a year old and how much he has developed and changed these past ten months!

Kolson: Month 9!

Eating and Sleeping Habits: Kolson's schedule got a little hectic when his top two front teeth started to cut through. Some nights he would wake up once for 4 to 5 hours. Other nights he would wake up 2 to 3 times for a half hour. Now, he has gone back to sleeping through the night (fingers crossed). On a normal night, Kolson will go to sleep around 7:45 and wake up between 7 and 7:30. When he wakes up he will have an 8oz bottle and 4oz of baby food. He will have another 8oz bottle before he goes down for a nap around 12:30. When he wakes up he will have 4oz of baby food for lunch and another 8oz bottle a few hours later. Depending on the night, Kolson will either have an 8oz bottle and fall asleep, or have an 8oz bottle and play for a while until he falls asleep on his own.

Measurements: At Kolson check-up a few days ago his measurement for weight was 23 pounds and for length 30 inches. He is in the 100th percentile for height, 85th for weight, and 48th for weight to height. Everywhere we go people always comment on how big he is for his age. Most people assume he is over a year old.

Diapering: Kolson is wearing size 4 Pamper's Cruisers. We love them because they don't droop as much as Huggies and now that he is crawling that is very important!

Clothing: We are just switching Kolson to 12 month clothes. He has been in 12 month pajamas for about a month now, but can only wear the separate one because the footed pajamas are way too big for him.

New Milestones: Kolson is officially crawling on all fours! He's been army crawling for a couple months now, but he just started to crawl on all fours. He still prefers to army crawl if he wants to get somewhere fast. He is also starting to bear crawl (crawling but going on his feet instead of his knees).  He has been improving with his standing and is getting a lot more daring about letting go of things he pulls up on.

Firsts: Kolson had chicken for the first time. He ate it, but didn't love it. I think he just has to get used to the texture. We went to an indoor gym for toddlers and babies called giggle box with Kolson's friend Brie and he absolutely loved it. He was crawling through the tunnels and playing on the interactive mat. He had an absolute blast!

Loves: Kolson loves to stand. It's all he wants to do now. He will try and pull up to a stand on everything, but his favorite way to do it is by using me haha. He loves to crawl around and play with all of his friends at play group.

Doesn't Love: The only things he really doesn't love right now are being tired and sitting still for a long period of time. He always has to be moving and if he is restrained he will start screaming.

What I want to remember: Whenever I go into his room when he is in the crib he will get this huge smile on his face and immediately throw his arms up in the air for me. When I pick him up he will give me a big hug and start talking to me. He is starting to give kisses now and will laugh if I give him one. I want to remember the way he talks/sings when I walk around with him at night before he falls asleep. It is the cutest thing ever!
